Pg.05 If results are fast and measurable (not just noticeable), self discipline isn't needed.

Notes

Start Here

Shoreline Amphitheatre, Tim doing Air squats. And eating too much, still registering reduction in body fat percentage.^[fast]

Pg.3 Calories in and calories out? It's incomplete at best. I've lost fat while grossly overfeeding.

Diary of a Madman

Tim has recorded every workout he has done since age of 18. He has had >1000 blood tests performed since 2004.

Pg.05 If results are fast and measurable (not just noticeable), self discipline isn't needed.

The Unintentional Dark horse

Tim claims that he doesn't have a "publish-or-perish" career to preserve, and this is a good thing, since He can boldly state the fact and observation without having to think about any career to preserve.

A Laboratory of one

Most breakthroughs in performance(and appearance) enhancement has started with animals and go through following adoption curve- Animals-> Racehorse-> AIDS patients( because of muscle wasting) and body builders-> elite athletes-> rich people-> (After 10-20 years) the rest of us

Pg.7 The government agencies(the US department of Agriculture, the Food and Drug administration) are at least 10 years behind current research, and at least 20 years behind compelling evidence in the field.

Tim tells about the accident of his close friend Paul resulting in brain damage that lowered his testosterone production. It didn't get any better by even top of the endocrinologists but by advice of an advanced body builder who knew his biochemistry, to use testosterone enanthate, a variation seldom seen in the medical profession in the United states.

Pg.8 Do doctors normally take advantage of the 50+ years of experience that professional body builders have been testing, even synthesizing, esters of testosterone? No. Most doctors view body builders as cavalier amateurs, and body builders view doctors as too risk-averse to do anything innovative

Pg. 8 Despite the incredible progress in some areas of medicine in the last 100 years, a 60– year– old in 2009 can expect to live an average of only 6 years longer than a 60 – year – old and 1900.

Pg.8 Suffice to say: for uncommon solutions, you have to look in uncommon places.

The future is already here

In our current world, even if proper trials are funded for obesity studies as just one example, it might take 10-20 years for the results. Are you prepared to wait? Of course not.

Pg.9 The future is already here- it is just unevenly distributed

The 80/20 principle: From Wall street to the Human machine

Five rules to use the book

  1. Think of this book as buffet
  2. Skip the science if it's too dense
  3. Please be skeptical
  4. Don't use skepticism as an excuse for inaction Pg.12 As the good Dr. Timothy Noakes PhD, author or co-author of 400+ published research papers said to me about one Olympic training regimen: "This [approach] could be totally wrong, but it's a hypothesis worth disproving."

    • It's important to look for hypothesis worth disproving.
    • Don't use scepticism as a thinly veiled excuse for inaction or remaining in your comfort zone. Be sceptical, but for the right reason.
    • Be proactively sceptical, not defensively sceptical.
    • Enjoy it
    • This book isn't a homework assignment. Take it at your own pace.

The Billionaire productivity Secret and the experimental lifestyle

During a brainstorming session for growth option for one of his ambitious projects, philanthropic Virgin Unite, Richard Branson was asked "How do you become more productive". After giving it a thought for a second, he answered, "Work out". He was serious and elaborated: working out gave him at least four additional hours of productive time every day.

Fundamentals- First and Foremost

The Minimum effective dose (MED)

The smallest dose that will produce a desired outcome. Arthur Jones referred to this critical point as the "Minimum effective load", as he was concerned exclusively with weight-bearing excercise, but we will look at precise "dosing" of both excercise and anything you ingest.

Pg.19 Anything beyond the MED is wasteful. To boil water, the MED is 100 C, at standard air pressure. Boiled is boiled. Higher temperatures will not make it "more boiled".

If you need 15 minutes in the sun to trigger a melanin response, 15 minutes is your MED for tanning. More than 15 minutes is redundant and will just result in burning and a forced break from the beach. During this forced break from the beach, let's assume 1 week, someone else who heeded his natural 15 minute MED will be able to fit in 4 more tanning sessions. He is four shades darker, whereas you have returned to your pale pre-beach self.

Pg.19 In biological systems, exceeding your MED can freeze progress for weeks, even months.

The kidneys, as one example, can clear the blood ofa finite maximum waste concentration each day (approximately 450 millimoles per litre).

The MED not only delivers the most dramatic results, but it does so in the least time possible. Jones's words should echo in your head: "Remember, it is impossible to evaluate, or even understand, anything that you cannot measure." 80 secs of 9kg (20lb) 10:00 MINS OF 12.2 C (54 F) water 200 mg of allicin extract before bed These are the types of prescriptions you should seek, and these are the types of prescriptions I will offer.

This is the intentional end of this page.
